The FISHLOVE campaign began in 2009 when Scacchi caused a stir with an image of her with a cod. She devised the protest with friend Nicky Röhl, who owns Japanese restaurant Moshi Moshi in Brighton, which sources sustainable fish.
A host of high-profile figures have posed for Rankin shoots including Sir Ben Kingsley, Emilia Fox, Richard E Grant, Lenny Henry, Mariella Frostrup and Lizzy Jagger’s mother Jerry Hall. Scacchi, 52, said: “Fish stocks are at a critical level. This could not only see fish wiped out, but could have a devastating impact on the climate.
“There is a real chance of turning things around, and celebrities are great way of raising awareness.” The image of Jagger was taken with a yellowfin tuna. The fish in the pictures were donated by Waitrose and caught sustainably.
All the images will be on show at Pertwee, Anderson & Gold gallery in Bateman Street, Soho from October 25, as the EU reviews how much fish each member state can catch.
